This week was special for me as we had the honor of hosting my Girls of Legacy, their guardian, and our amazing mentors for an evening of celebration, sharing personal journeys, and giving back. After a competitive nomination process last month, I selected five new girls for the 2024 program from two Title 1 schools in Austin, LBJ High School and Success High School. The new girls received a warm welcome from the existing students and met their new mentors for the first time.
My husband David and I have been opening our home and serving students from inner-city Title 1 schools for 15 years now through our non-profit LaunchPad. Girls of Legacy is my signature initiative through LaunchPad birthed in Spring 2022 out of a desire to empower the next generation of women leaders in Austin, Texas. I am proud to do life with these girls and especially thrilled to have the new girls start their development through our mentorship program this next year. I matched each of them with their mentor based on their story and desired goals. We celebrate the girls and their success as some of them move into their second year at University, and the new girls graduate from High School next year and then begin their higher education journey in the fall of 2024.
You invest in incredibly fertile ground when you give to Girls of Legacy. I personally match every dollar given, so a $20 donation turns into $40. Consider donating to the Girls of Legacy Scholarship Fund (through my 501c3 LaunchPad) and investing in the lives and future of these girls.
