LP Parent University (2011)

LP had a huge night of success with Parent University night at Dobie Middle School, over 500 in attendance! Families of Dobie Middle School gathered to share in a night of education and fun for the whole family. The night started with gathering in the cafeteria to provide dinner for the families, then we split them up into three tracks: Track 1 - Parent Education - over 160 parents listened to special guest speakers to learn about gang prevention strategies, family engagement, education around school attendance and to hear an inspiring story of triumph over obstacles and the value and the power of education for the future. Track 2 - over 150 Dobie students participated in fun games and team building exercises learning to work together and build trust. Track 3 - 190 elementary-age students were visited by "Tomatillo El Payaso" and Diego for a night of laughter and fun! The families all came together at the end of the event where prizes were given away in the school gym to motivate the students and get them excited about participating. We want to thank the LP volunteer team and local business partners that made it possible by sponsoring the event and our prizes!
